Geraint Thomas looks likely to move into a management role with Ineos Grenadiers once he retires at the end of the season.
Multiple sources have informed Escape Collective that when Thomas hangs up his racing wheels following September’s Tour of Britain, he is set to jump over the usual post-retirement role of a sports director or coach, and instead be given substantial responsibilities within the management structure of the team.
Escape has been told John Allert will be staying on as the team’s chief executive – he was appointed in December 2023 – but Thomas, who turns 39 on May 25, is likely to slot into a newly-formed role immediately beneath the Australian, alongside performance director Scott Drawer and director of performance operations Carsten Jeppesen.
